Alexa's Review

Well, Sara and I are extremely proud parents. We had our first parent teacher conference and Alexa's teacher had nothing but great things to say about her. She helps, listens, and is reading and writing at a higher level than most of her class. I know that it sounds like I'm bragging, but that is what we are supposed to do when our kids to well...right?

Mother daughter UNO

Sara was surprised to realize that her sister and family came in for the long weekend to celebrate her birthday. After a day of shopping and swimming, the girls sat down for a friendly game of UNO. I should have known that they would all try to cheat!

Today is Alexa's first day of school. She was soooooooooo excited and glad that she is finally starting. She had no problem getting up this morning and got dressed in record time. We drove her to school today, but tomorrow she gets to go on the bus for the first time. Two firsts in two days. I'm sure she is having fun, but it is hard to see her growing so fast. Here are some pics from the big day!!!

A special Mother Daughter moment. Walking into school for the first day!

Now they know the camera is on them. Look at her smile. She is so excited. Mom...not so much. Alexa is just growing up too fast.

She already knows exactly where to go. She's leading us to the cafeteria.

Waiting to make new friends.

Oh look... a new friend.

I've got Hanna Montana...what do you have?

Lining up to walk to class.

Exploring with Playdoh on the first day. How fun!!!

OK, Mom and Dad. You can leave now. I'm making friends and playing.

July is here

It's July and only getting closer to the campout and our vacation!  We are all excited to go this year as we missed last year.  It has been a while since we've had a chance to get away from it all.  I can't wait.

On the forth we enjoyed some swimming at the house and then went and saw the Lewisville fireworks.  It seemed like it was less than last year, but with everything that happened in China I guess you have to understand the budget constraints.  It was still a nice show and Alexa enjoyed it.  She crashed on the way home though.  A long day in the sun and at the pool will do that to you.

So, the countdown begins till vacation now.  Until then, we've both been working alot.  I've been taking work home and Sara has been going in earlier than normal.  I guess the overtime is nice, but at the same time I'm sure she'd rather be home relaxing.

We started painting the upstairs bathroom and hope to have it done this weekend.  Sara did most of it while I worked on the lawn, but it looks great.  We still have a lot of painting to do on the house, but a little bit at a time.

Until next post...Have Fun!

Basketball Hoop

Happy father's day! I spent all afternoon on Saturday building this pool basketball hoop and happy to say that it is done! Sara and I played on it last night. It works great!

Alexa spent the night at a friends house, so I didn't get to see her till this afternoon. There is nothing like having her around on father's day...after all, that's what it's all about right.

We had a nice father's day just hanging out at the house enjoying the weather and the pool. Our old neighbors came over and we BBQ'd some rib's and corn.

After a couple of games of horse I am happy to say that I am still undefeated! I love the news hoop!

Jammin

We spent the night jammin' to guitar hero. It was nice to do all this as a family. I'm pretty sure that Sara got better as the night went on. She really gets into the grove of the music!

Broken

Sara's finger...seen below...is in fact broken.  She is fashionably wearing a splint on it now and hopefully will be back to normal soon.

Oops

Sara had a bad experience today at lunch and it had nothing to do with the food she had. She got her hand slammed in a car door and I'm sure it didn't feel great. She texted me this pic. and she's OK so that's good. I'm sure the next time she climbs into a car that she'll remember this one.

The Question

Well, last night was interesting.  We were having a nice family dinner and Alexa asks, "How do babies get in the belly?"  I nearly fainted!  I couldn't believe that my little baby was already wondering about these things...How dare she grow up.  Anywho, I said what any father would say when approached with such a dilemma.  "Ask mommy."  Sara didn't think this was so funny, but handled it like a pro and said, "A mommy and a daddy make a baby."  That seemed to suffice for now, but who knows when the next question will come out or what it'll be.  Until then...

Bean Family

Hello...welcome to our first blog. I guess we should finally get into the 22nd century. I'm going to try to update this a little more frequent than the myspace stuff. Hopefully right from my phone. Check out the pics of Alexa. She's growing like a weed and loves to have her pic taken.
